This series was born through my fascination with this fabulous weed. Whilst leaving my house one morning in 2009 I saw a bunch of Dandelion heads growing from a crack in the path. On my way home in the evening I stopped to have a good look, there where heads in all different stages of their lifecycle. Each day I watched and was amazed at how quickly they raced through the whole cycle of their life (1 week in total!) in an effort to reproduce by the thousand. I started sketching and photographing the varying shapes and forms and became intimately involved and what can only be described as obsessed with them. I even picked one put it in water and watched it complete it's whole life cycle propped in a jam jar. By the time the summer had ended I had realised I was compelled to complete a body of work on this wonderful species, wanting to bring this to the attention of The British Public. The winter months were spent creating compositions to best show off their true beauty. Testing and trialling various materials best equipped to describe the forms, colours and textures. These pieces needed to be vibrant. colourful and impacting. I really enjoyed creating this body of work using recycled materials and Acrylic paints on Canvas. This body of work is sold now but I am still obsessed with them and will be doing more work with them in the future. Obviously this particular "Body of Work" would never be repeated.
