In The Pink
40 x 40 inches

This piece is designed and executed for maximum impact. Tactility to encourage interaction and Imagination for you the viewer to respond to my artwork based on your own experiences throughout your own lifetime. My inspiration for this piece is "YOUTH". It is a visual response to the inner emotions of youth. Reflecting Passion, freedom, happiness, raging hormones, infatuation, dreams, hopes, innocence, fancies, repetition, addiction and a sheer lust for life. These feelings which we do not understand at the time. It is only when we look back we have any level of understanding of how we where. I have enlarged areas of this image to show more detail.

A Different Angle
39 x 48 inches
My inspiration for this piece is New York. After arriving in New York by sea I wanted to respond to the effect it had on me. The buildings so tall throwing there enormous yet broken shadows, the shapes and angles of each and every building and how they related to each other. The heat of the sun and the heaving streets filled with people, cars, stalls, shops, a riot of colour. Postage stamps are used to give the feeling of travel and time. Varying textures and colours describing the varied surfaces and vibrant colours to add impact.

Happy Talk
36 x 36 inches
My inspiration for this piece is the film "South Pacific" by Rodgers and Hammerstein. I was born in 1960 and as a child I was brought up with the musicals. My dad loved them all and purchased every album released. We knew the songs word perfect. After his death in 2006 we Inherited his record collection. I did not play any of them as it was too painful. Recently (Oct 2010) "South Pacific" came on the television one wet and wintry afternoon, we settled down and watched it. This film stirred so much emotion in me. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the song "Happy Talk" filled me with happiness and it stuck with me. This is my expressive response to that experience.

Mating Season

| |
This piece was created as a result of going to a Bird Centre whilst on holiday. The Colours and shapes of the Peacocks are fabulous. The Frenzy of the shivering tails the movement of the male as he stomps around showing the female how lovely he is. I could not help but agree.

Confusion
36 x 36 inches. This piece is born from the Frustrations of "Modern Day Life". everything is so difficult to achieve these days. Life is a constant struggle and stress. Call somebody - sit on hold for hours. "Sorry wrong department I'l transfer you" CLUNK DEATHLY SILENCE. Buy a unit - the shelf's missing, Can it be sorted quickly "NO" we'l order you another it'l only take 10 weeks to come!!! AHHHHHHH. 2 minutes to 9 stand outside shop "Can I come In?" We don't open until 9!!!!! Round and Round in Circles we go. No Common Sense, No authority, No caring, enough said I could go on for hours! What is going on in this world?

"In Chains"
35 x 35 inches. I am not a very Political person but things happen that really get to me. I say "GET OUT OF THE EU". We have fought and WON 2 wars for FREEDOM and now we are no longer free. What did all those people die for? The earth must be churning from those turning in their graves!!!!! We are tied to Europe. How on earth did that happen? Politicians "Blaggards To A Man" That's how it happened. All politicians should be thrown out all they want to do is make their mark and go down in history. Well they've certainly done that! What is left "US" Shackled, Chained and tied! That is my inspiration for this piece.

Granada Street Scene
36 X 24 INCHES
Whilst on a Caribbean cruise I visited Grenada along with several other Islands. I was struck by the natural beauty of the islands and the settings within which homes are sited. The richness and beauty of the Sea and landscape against the contrast of the often derelict/unkept homes and buildings. I was in awe of these settings and felt compelled to recreate the image and the feelings stirred in me by recreating this image which forms part of a row of buildings. To recreate this scene the use of natural/recycled materials and depth of colour where imperative. The following materials (to name but a few): Straws, bin liners, sawdust, painted and shaped cardboard, corrugated card, tissue paper, bolsa wood, string, Acrylic mediums and paint.

COUNTERCHANGE
40 x 40 inches.
This piece is based on the principal "Counterchange". I wanted to create a dramatic piece using items which do not relate to each other and that you can see individually although they overlap. The use of pattern allows the viewer to identify each piece in it's own right but still accept that they interfere with one another. Using black and white is most impacting and the use of soft and hard lined patterns give it a real feeling. The Ted's red nose is used to drag the eye down as the weight of the ball needed to be balanced. The material used is mulberry paper.

Skegness
39 x 19 inches
I live 5 miles North of Skegness and often visit Skegness seafront. Throughout the winter Skegness is bare and sad. Once spring arrives Skegness starts to fill. The rides are switched on, Cafe's and Bars open, the best Acts arrive, The "Kiss Me Quick" hats appear with the Ice-Creams, Seafood stalls, Buckets and Spades, Fish and Chip restaurants (complete with Gulls and Starlings) and let's not forget the Donkey rides. By the Summer it's bursting at the seams. The atmosphere is full of holiday spirit and Skegness is at it's best. The inclusion of "Wind Turbines" completes the modern seascape of the East Coast. This piece has taken in excess of 100 hours to complete. I have used foam, newspaper, tissue paper(in various colours), gems, sequins, beads, odd pieces of advertising leaflets and many more objects.

Samantha Shocked
32 x 24 inches
This piece is an indulgence. Having just rehomed a cat I have fallen in love for the umpteenth time in my life! Having never owned a cat before I have become obsessed with their flexibility and inquisitiveness. This is a very shocked and surprised cat. It was created using silk paper, wrapping paper and cotton.
